At ServiceMaster by Stratos, we service many office spaces and venues that have carpeting throughout. As a result, we’ve come to know a thing or two about the two most popular options—rolls and tiles. If you’re looking to select carpet to install in your home or office anytime soon, check out the tidbits below!

Rolls of carpet, also known as broadloom, come in rolls that are cut to fit your space and laid atop a carpet pad. Carpet tiles come in the shape of a square and include their own integrated backing and base. Now, what are the pros and cons of each?

Rolls

  • PROS: Tend to be more stain resistant and typically cheaper than tiles
  • CONS: Cutting during install results in waste and this type can be costly to repair/replace

Tiles

  • PROS: Simple and speedy installation as well as easy maintenance
  • CONS: Seams are visible and this type cannot accommodate large patterns

In the end, it’s completely up to the consumer’s preference on which direction they go. According to Spectra Contract Flooring, broadloom carpet reigns supreme, making up 70 percent of installations.
